PROGRAMMER/ANALYST

AQHA is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the Programmer/Analyst position with the American Quarter Horse Association. The candidate will work out of the International headquarters located in Amarillo, Texas.

POSITION SUMMARY

Provide AQHA software development skills to both create and maintain existing systems primarily for C#/.Net, but can include other technologies.  Develop software across the full stack, including architecture and design.  Work with other teams to understand end-user requirements, formulate use cases, and then translate that into pragmatic and effective technical solutions.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Identify opportunities where software can improve efficiency of business processes.

  • Design, code, unit test, debug, document and support software applications.

  • Formulate and define application scope and objectives

  • Define and implement unit tests as systems are developed

  • Prepare specifications from which programs will be written, coded, and tested

  • Monitor and report to management on the status of project efforts, anticipating/identifying issues that inhibit the attainment of project goals and implementing corrective actions

  • Troubleshooting software application issues

  • Assist network administrator with application installation and testing

  • Assist in managing relationships for 3rd party application development and programming consultants

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to independently work through tough problems without clear solutions

  • Proficient in current technology, tools, and software

  • Proven experience in improving production applications. 

  • Solid understanding of OO concepts, design decisions, and coding for robustness

  • Proven experience in modern web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)

  • Proficient with standard IT development techniques and methods such as prototyping, continuous-integration, and Agile/SCRUM

  • Project management skills with the ability to provide leadership to a team in organizing, planning, and executing projects from vision through implementation

  • Ability to quickly digest new technologies, patterns, and techniques and rapidly turn them into production-worthy applications

  • Understanding of development best-practices and ability to recognize and follow established design patterns

  • Ability to provide direction and mentoring to junior team members in a productive manner

  • 3 years of experience in C#/.Net or similar programming technologies in a modern environment.

FOUNDATION MARKETING & ANNUAL GIVING

AQHA is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the Foundation Marketing & Annual Giving position with the American Quarter Horse Foundation and Hall of Fame. The candidate will work out of the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame and Museum located in Amarillo, Texas.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a part of an overall strategic development plan, direct/plan/coordinate activities to solicit and maintain funds for the American Quarter Horse Foundation. Work in conjunction with the Chief Foundation Officer and the Foundation team to craft successful fundraising strategies for annual giving. In conjunction with the Chief Foundation Officer, develop a marketing and market development strategy for Foundation activities, oversee annual giving strategies, and coordinate special fundraising events.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Work with Marketing Department to develop insightful and strategic marketing efforts and plans for Foundation activities

  • Develop strategies for reaching segments of donor base through targeted annual giving efforts.

  • Support effective donor development via the coordination of unique fundraising events and experiences. 

  • In conjunction with Director of Development, be able to identify and educate potential donors on multiple giving options.

  • Develop fundraising plans that maximize contributions and are cost effective.

  • In conjunction with Director of Development, strategies to encourage new or increased contributions.

  • Assist in the development of budgets for major gift development.

  • Effectively steward existing donor relationships for further cultivation. 

  • Write and send letters of thanks to donors.

  • Maintains the highest ethical and professional standards.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful record of donor/client relations and event coordination.

  • Experience with fundraising software.

  • Experience in leading annual giving campaigns.

  • Experience in developing marketing strategies and comprehensive marketing plans that support institutional goals.

DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

AQHA is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the Director of Development position with the American Quarter Horse Foundation and Hall of Fame. The candidate will work out of the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame and Museum located in Amarillo, Texas.

POSITION SUMMARY

  • Develop an efficient and productive prospecting system that produces a significant number of qualified leads for direct cultivation and solicitation of major gift opportunities.

  • Develop strategies for building relationships with potential donors.

  • Facilitate effective donor development communications with donor prospects and donors. 

  • Identify and be able to educate potential donors on multiple giving options.

  • Develop fundraising plans that maximize contributions and are cost effective.

  • Secure charitable gifts from individuals or corporate donors.

  • Develop strategies to encourage new or increased contributions.

  • Assist in the development of budgets for major gift development.

  • Effectively steward existing donor relationships for further cultivation. 

  • Write and send letters of thanks to donors.

  • Maintains the highest ethical and professional standards.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with fundraising software.

  • Experience in leading major gift development in a capital campaign or special project and successful record of achieving campaign/project goals.

  • Experience in developing a strategic plan for soliciting and securing gifts from private sources or the equivalent in the corporate environment.

  • Knowledge and skill in planned gift development and/or estate and financial planning.

MANAGER OF MUSEUM PROGRAMS

AQHA is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the Manager of Museum Programs position with the American Quarter Horse Foundation and Hall of Fame. The candidate will work out of the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame and Museum located in Amarillo, Texas.

POSITION SUMMARY

Promote the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum by creating and planning displays, exhibits, related activities and events, and marketing strategies that will engage the public with the American Quarter Horse via the Museum. Work closely with the Curator to develop exhibits and displays that are supportive of the overall Foundation mission and program focus areas.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Develop and implement programs that will increase attendance and support of the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum and global awareness of and engagement in the American Quarter Horse industry.

  • Develop annual marketing plan in cooperation with marketing department.

  • Develop budgets for exhibits, displays, programs and events.

  • Arrange public appearances, lectures, contests, or exhibits for AQHF to increase product or service awareness or to promote goodwill.

  • Develop public relations through community education, involvement and support.

  • Serve as community liaison for the Museum.

  • Coordinate and host group visits to include adult tour and school field trip activities.

  • Oversee the development and management of a docent program.

  • Other administrative tasks as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Marketing/Communications or Education.

  • Two years’ experience as program coordinator at museum or comparable institute. 

  • Experience in staff/volunteer management and supervision.

  • Fundraising experience and/or education is desirable.
